Spirituality versus Advertising

Have you noticed that some of the Gurus in Contemporary Spirituality have very little to say about the personal.

And that they have awakened suddenly from intense personal suffering to a state of enlightenment the results of which are appearances on Oprah?

Why is it that the minute one attempts to bring Spirituality into form the results
so often are the temptations of this World?  Fame, Fortune and the ever appealing: forgetting your personal history, of what value could this possibly be?

Experts on suffering, such as Pema Chodron, who has sat in silent meditation for a year strictly for the purpose of alleviating the suffering of mankind. know the mind and teach you how to open your heart and keep it open.

It isn't in forgetting the personal, that one is of service  it is in embracing one's own suffering that being of service begins.

In your search for spirituality may you not be missiled by advertising gurus.
